Found: Discarded Hoodie, Division St. cor Paulina

·

to be vulnerable

to bleed on their carpet

to weep over a memory

to shed the memory where you stand

to struggle loudly with the straps
and clasps and heaviness of things

to double park your pain
next to their annoyed and honking urgencies

to leave behind in the middle of the sidewalk
something everyone who sees knows
was a big part of something, someone

to be the unfinished story someone tells

to be unfinished

to not lie about having doubts
when feigning certainty holds all of it together

to be left behind, to be running late
and be an unresolved question
in a chorus of questions

to stand numb and bewildered
as the words fall at your feet
splashing your clothing
spattering your skin with marks of your failure
and still not getting in the car

to rage and not postpone the falling chips
for a more convenient time

to continue

to process messily
and move things around

to lay down the water-damaged pages
of the aftermath
to be saved by the sun

Honesty is so difficult and yet you embrace it. I am encouraged.
